Tasting Notes

This is not Nuits-Saint-Georges built on weight or force. Clos des Corvées Pagets is firm, precise and mineral, with red and dark berry fruit, fine spice, earthy detail and the natural grip of the village held in a more elegant frame. There is seriousness here, but also lift, showing the lighter, more finely etched side of Charles Lachaux’s work. The 2021 vintage marks a pivotal moment at Arnoux-Lachaux, with the wines raised through a long élevage in oak alongside the domaine’s growing move towards ceramic ageing.

The Plot
Clos des Corvées Pagets sits in the Premeaux sector, south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, within the historic Aux Corvées area. Arnoux-Lachaux’s holding is small, around 0.55 hectares, and has long been one of the domaine’s more distinctive Premier Cru sites.
This is a vineyard that gives structure and presence, but in 2021 it speaks with more restraint. The result is a wine with savoury depth, mineral tension and the firm, composed character that makes Nuits-Saint-Georges so compelling.
Technical Details
The 2021 vintage was an important turning point at Arnoux-Lachaux, marking the final release aged in oak before Charles Lachaux moved fully to ceramic from 2022 onwards. In this cooler, more classical year, the wines were handled gently, with short 6-9 day macerations and an extended 31-month élevage before bottling in April 2024.
