Domaine Fourrier is one of the great names of Burgundy, revered for wines that seem to float rather than force their way into the glass. Old vines, native yeasts, gentle extraction and a famously restrained hand in the cellar give the wines their signature: perfume, purity, silk and that unmistakable Gevrey depth.
Now led by Louis Fourrier, the fifth generation, the domaine continues to make Burgundy with astonishing finesse. These are not wines built on power for power’s sake, but on detail, grace and quiet intensity: rose petals, red fruit, mineral tension and the kind of beauty that reminds you why Burgundy gets under your skin in the first place.

Fourrier’s identity is built around old vines, perfume and restraint. Even the village Gevrey comes from parcels averaging more than 80 years old, with the oldest planted in 1928. The aim is never to force power from the fruit, but to preserve freshness, detail and the quiet authority of Gevrey-Chambertin.

The domaine works with exceptionally old vines across Gevrey-Chambertin and the wider Côte de Nuits. Fourrier’s village Gevrey is drawn from old-vine parcels across the village, while Combe aux Moines comes from vines planted in 1928. The vineyards are hand harvested and worked according to biodynamic principles, with the focus firmly on healthy soils, old roots and allowing each site to speak with clarity.

In the cellar, Fourrier’s approach is deliberately restrained. Fruit is carefully destemmed and fermented with native yeasts, with gentle infusion-style extraction rather than heavy handling. Oak is kept firmly in the background: the Bourgogne Pinot Noir sees no new oak, the village Gevrey around 10%, and the Premier Crus around 15%. The objective is purity, perfume and texture rather than weight or polish for its own sake.
Across the range, the house style remains remarkably consistent: lifted red fruit, rose-petal perfume, fine tannins, mineral freshness and depth without heaviness. Even at Bourgogne level, the wines carry the same precision and delicacy that define the Premier Cru bottlings.

Why we’re excited
Fourrier is one of those domaines where the reputation is enormous, but the wines themselves remain remarkably understated. Nothing feels forced. Nothing is dressed up. The fruit is bright, the perfume is lifted and the tannins are fine, but underneath it all there is proper Gevrey depth and old-vine seriousness.
What makes the range so compelling is that the signature is there at every level. The Bourgogne Pinot Noir already has the perfume, silk and freshness that define the domaine, while the village and Premier Cru wines simply turn the volume up on detail, depth and site expression.
For us, this is Burgundy at its most persuasive: precise, graceful and quietly powerful, with the sort of balance that keeps pulling you back to the glass.
