Pierre Mayeul may be one of the younger winemaking partnerships in the Côte-d’Or, founded in 2016, but they’re already shaping up to be a future icon, with ambitions that reach far beyond their micro-négoce beginnings.
Behind the label is a trio of friends with deep Burgundian roots and a shared vision for quality: Ludivine Griveau, the first female winemaker in the 160-year history of the Hospices de Beaune; Matthieu Bouchard, a tenth-generation member of the historic Bouchard family; and Frédéric Hirault, the former driving force behind Château de Corton. Together, they bring exceptional expertise, heritage, and heart. Crafting wines that are as thoughtful as they are expressive. Rooted in tradition, yet boldly forward-looking.

From regional Burgundy through to Premier and Grand Cru, Pierre Mayeul’s range combines precision, restraint and a distinctly modern touch, with each wine shaped to reflect its origin rather than a house style.
Ludivine champions a thoughtful, terroir-first approach, crafting wines that reflect where they’re from while always looking forward. Her winemaking is precise and restrained, with every decision made to express purity, balance, and site.

Reds typically see whole bunch fermentation, while whites undergo a gentle, carefully controlled press. Oak ageing is equally considered, from 20 to 40% new French oak. Even the regional wines receive a confident boost of oak to bring structure and polish without overwhelming the fruit. From vibrant regional and village cuvées to age-worthy Premier and Grand Crus, the wines carry clarity, structure, and soul. Rooted in tradition, made with a modern touch.
For those curious about the fabled wines of Hospices de Beaune, Pierre Mayeul offers a rare opportunity. Ludivine Grivault, the first female winemaker in the history of the Hospices, became its head in 2015 following her award-winning performances at the International Wine Challenge.
While wines bought at the iconic Hospices de Beaune auction are typically completed by other domaines, Pierre Mayeul’s wines are crafted and aged under Ludivine’s careful hand, allowing you to taste her wines exactly as she intended.

Why we’re excited
Pierre Mayeul brings together serious Burgundian experience with a genuinely modern outlook. Ludivine’s precise, terroir-first approach gives the wines clarity and structure without losing their sense of place, while the connection to the Hospices de Beaune makes the domaine especially distinctive. For such a young project, the ambition and level of detail are already remarkable.
