Domaine
A.F. Gros.
by Caroline & Mathias Parent
Domaine A F Gros is the meeting point of two of Burgundy’s most iconic wine families: Gros and Parent. Now steered by the next generation, brother and sister duo, Caroline & Mathias. Together, they’re bringing new energy to old vines, and crafting wines with absolute clarity and class.
Since its founding in 1988 by Anne-Françoise Gros, the philosophy has been simple: every wine matters. From Bourgogne Rouge to Richebourg Grand Cru, the approach stays the same. Same process. Same precision. Same respect for vintage and vineyard.

Classically Raised. Quietly Radical. A F GROS.

That precision shows up everywhere. A state-of-the-art destemmer, in use since 2011, keeps grapes intact so fermentation starts inside the grape producing cleaner ferments, finer tannins, & more aromatic lift. Since 2019, they’ve embraced whole bunch fermentation, up to 80% in some wines bringing freshness and bite, especially in the hotter vintages.

IN THE CELLAR
Legacy never tasted this fresh
It’s all about balance in the cellar. Wines age in a 50/50 split of ceramic eggs and oak barrels, with no more than 20% new wood for the 2023 vintage. The ceramics are key – a neutral vessel that lets the wine breathe and evolve without picking up extra tannins or sulphur. Going forward, they’re ditching used barrels altogether due to the uncontrolled release of tannins, refining the mix to just new oak and ceramic, with the new oak percentage adjusted to the vintage. This is heritage without the heaviness. Fourteen generations of winemaking behind the name, and counting. A.F. Gros wines are calm, confident, and characterful. Built on bloodline and bottled with precision.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
What's next for a f gROS?
With Caroline and Mathias Parent guiding the estate, the future of A.F. Gros looks both grounded and forward-thinking. Mathias is refining the domaine’s signature style with gentle extraction, whole-bunch fermentation, and an evolving use of ceramic eggs for ageing.
from Richebourg Grand Cru to the village-level Pinot Noirs, there’s a clear move toward energy, finesse, and terroir clarity. Rather than expanding volumes, the focus is on deepening quality and letting each plot shine.
WHY WE’RE EXCITED…
A.F. Gros strikes that rare Burgundy sweet spot: deeply pedigreed, but quietly radical. Under Caroline and Mathias Parent, the domaine is honouring its roots while pushing the conversation forward – with whole-bunch fermentation, ceramic eggs, and a lighter, more lifted touch across the range. These are wines that hum with energy, structure, and elegance – not showy, but seriously thought-provoking.
We were the first to taste the blended 2023 Richebourg, and it was clear: this domaine is making wines that Burgundy collectors should be paying very close attention to. If you want Grand Cru gravitas with freshness, finesse, and a forward-thinking edge, A.F. Gros belongs in your cellar.
