About this Wine

A powerhouse Corton from A.F. Gros that doesn’t hold back — dense, structured, and boldly aromatic, yet somehow never heavy. Blackberry, black pepper and a touch of wild garrigue all swirl into something deeply seductive. This is Corton with charisma.

Tasting Notes

Black tie Pinot. Blackberry, liquorice, and long, smoky stares.

Corton Grand Cru

The Boldest of Beauties. Corton, But Make It Couture.

This wine doesn’t whisper. It walks in, takes up space, and leaves you spellbound. A brooding mix of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum meets the sultry spice of black pepper and liquorice, all wrapped in fine, sculpted tannins. There’s richness and weight here, but also refinement — like a velvet curtain brushing past a stone wall. Tasted young, it’s clearly built for the long haul, but already struts with confidence.

The Plot

Corton is the only red Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune, and this cuvée channels its full might. Grown on steep limestone-rich slopes under organic principles and hand-harvested with care, the wine takes its power from the terroir and its polish from the winemaker. Mathias Parent continues to elevate the domaine’s reputation with a precise yet decadent touch.

Technical Details

Made from purchased grapes, this Corton Grand Cru was vinified with 50% whole bunches to bring aromatic lift and structural definition. Élevage took place in equal parts ceramic and oak barrels (50/50), with no more than 20% new oak used. The inclusion of ceramic vessels ensures a pure, unadorned expression of Corton’s bold and mineral-driven fruit — preserving power while refining texture. It’s Grand Cru with focus, flair, and a firm grip.

A.F. Gros

Discover Their Story

A.F. Gros

A.F. Gros is where two great Burgundy families, Gros and Parent come together.

Now led by siblings Caroline and Mathias Parent, this next-gen duo brings fresh energy to a legacy of precision.

From Bourgogne to Richebourg, every wine gets the same care: whole bunch ferments, ceramic ageing, and a quiet radicalism behind the classic style.

FAQs

Clear details, so you can buy with confidence

Is this wine ready to drink now?

This will benefit from time in the cellar. You can open it now if you enjoy youthful energy, but patience should bring more depth, harmony and complexity.

Should I buy one bottle or a few?

One to try, three if you want to follow it over time, six if you already know the producer or style. Burgundy moves quickly, and small parcels rarely hang around for long.

What if I’m not sure this is my style?

Use our live chat, or pop us an email. We specialise in Burgundy and are always happy to help. Our tasting notes are based on wines tasted by our founders and updated regularly, so you can buy with proper confidence.

How quickly will it arrive?

Fast. We ship every wine on a next-working-day service and dispatch Monday to Friday. At checkout, you can even choose a delivery day that suits you.

How is it packed?

Each bottle is wrapped in tissue before being carefully placed into our specially imported Italian boxes, tested to rigorous standards. We have literally dropped them from the first storey of our house. All our packaging is paper-based and recyclable.

Can I send it as a gift?

Absolutely. As standard, our wines arrive wrapped in bespoke tissue paper. At checkout, you can also add gift bags, gift boxes and notes.
