Free Next Working Day Delivery over £199 | Order before 12PMAbout this Wine
From less than a hectare of Chardonnay vines planted within Chassagne-Montrachet itself, this is a Bourgogne with far more village character than the label might suggest.
The parcels sit across both the Puligny and Santenay sides of Chassagne, bringing together the generosity of the southern side with a little more freshness and precision from the north. In 2023, it is ripe, textured and generous, with citrus, orchard fruit and a soft, succulent feel through the palate.
This is the perfect introduction to Morey-Coffinet: expressive, polished and immediately enjoyable, but with the precision and energy that runs through the domaine’s most sought-afterwines.
Ripe and textured, with citrus, orchard fruit, green apple and a fresh, rounded feel through the palate.

Tasting Notes
Baby Chassagne in all but name. Organic Chardonnay from both the Puligny and Santenay sides of the village.

This is exactly the sort of Bourgogne Blanc we love: technically regional, but with its feet firmly planted in Chassagne-Montrachet.
The fruit comes from parcels spread across both sides of the village, and in 2023 the result is generous and succulent, with ripe citrus, green apple and orchard fruit wrapped around a gently rounded, textured palate.
There is plenty of flesh, but also a lovely freshness running through the wine, keeping everything energetic rather than heavy. It gives you a genuine glimpse of Morey-Coffinet's style before moving into the village and Premier Cru wines: ripe fruit, texture and generosity, handled with real precision.
A seriously smart introduction to the domaine, and a Bourgogne that punches well above its classification.

The Plot
The fruit comes from just 0.96 hectares of Chardonnay within Chassagne-Montrachet, with parcels in the centre of Chassagne, and also the Puligny and Santenay sides of the village.
The vines were planted in 1989, 2002 and 2013, predominantly on clay soils with relatively little limestone.
That spread across Chassagne is what makes the wine particularly interesting: it brings together different expressions of the village in one bottle, giving breadth and generosity alongside freshness and definition.
Technical Details
100% Chardonnay, hand harvested from certified organic vineyards.
The vines are trained using Guyot-Poussard pruning, with the soils worked mechanically rather than with herbicides. Morey-Coffinet also uses biodynamic farming practices, including composts and plant-based preparations.
The 2023 was raised in a mixture of 228 and 350 litre oak barrels alongside jar, helping to build texture while keeping the fruit and freshness at the centre of the wine. Bottled unfiltered.
