Les Suchots is bordered on three sides by Grand Cru’s Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Échézeaux. Arnoux-Lachaux is uniquely entitled to bottle its holding as Les Grands Suchots, and the parcel sits at the very top of the vineyard, planted with vines over 100 years old.
The 2022 is profound: floral, intensely concentrated and impossibly complete. It also comes from the Domaine’s first vintage raised entirely in ceramic.

Tasting Notes
Century-old vines, rose and violet perfume, and astonishingly concentrated red fruit. One of the greatest wines I have ever tasted.

Les Suchots is bordered on three sides by some of the most legendary vineyards on earth: Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and Échézeaux.
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux is uniquely entitled to bottle their holding as Les Grands Suchots, a distinction earned by position rather than prestige. Their parcel sits at the very top of the vineyard, and the vines here are over 100 years old.
A full century. It’s a humbling thing to stand among them.
The nose opens with freshly cut roses, vivid and alive, backed by a deeper violet undertone. It feels like spring captured in a glass.
The fruit follows in waves: cherry and strawberry, taken to their most concentrated, pure expression, as if gently reduced to a glossy intensity while retaining complete freshness.
There’s a luxurious sweetness here, more about depth and richness than sugar, echoing the generosity you find in the finest fortified wines, without any sense of weight.
On the palate, fruit and minerality find a balance that’s almost impossible to articulate. The whole-bunch stems are present, not as a feature, but as a quiet force, lending energy, lift, and a perfectly judged line of acidity.
Everything feels held, composed, inevitable.
And in 2022, all of that is presented with extraordinary clarity. This was the first vintage in which the entire Arnoux-Lachaux range was raised exclusively in ceramic, leaving the perfume, fruit and structure of these ancient vines completely exposed.
One of the best wines I have ever tasted.

The Plot
Les Suchots occupies one of the most extraordinary positions in Vosne-Romanée, bordered by Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Échézeaux.
Arnoux-Lachaux’s parcel sits at the very top of the vineyard and is planted with vines over a century old. The Domaine is uniquely entitled to bottle the wine as Les Grands Suchots.
That combination of position and vine age gives the wine enormous natural concentration, but what makes the 2022 so compelling is the balance. The fruit is intense, yet lifted. The perfume is powerful, yet precise. Nothing feels excessive.
Technical Details
2022 marks a defining moment at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux: the first vintage in which every wine from the Domaine was raised entirely in ceramic.
The wines spent an extended 36 months in neutral Clayver ceramic vessels before bottling. By removing the aromatic and structural imprint of oak, Charles is looking for the clearest possible expression of vineyard, fruit and texture.
Whole grapes remain central to the winemaking, and here the stems contribute energy, lift and structure without ever dominating the wine.
With vines over 100 years old, Les Grands Suchots already has immense natural depth. The ceramic élevage does not add shape or sweetness to that concentration. It simply leaves it exposed, allowing the rose, violet, red fruit, minerality and ancient-vine intensity to speak with extraordinary purity.

Discover Their Story
There are turning points in every great region. Moments where tradition meets vision, and something extraordinary happens. For Burgundy, one of those moments is Charles Lachaux with the family domaine, Arnoux-Lachaux.
Since taking the reins of his family domaine in 2012, Charles has transformed Arnoux-Lachaux into one of the most closely followed names in the region. The wines are now among the most sought-after in the world – not for their rarity alone, but for their clarity, precision, and sense of life.
Our Take
“One of the best wines I have ever tasted.”
Reading back through my notes, one word recurs like a heartbeat: perfume. Not as a throwaway cliché, but as a presence that truly rises from the glass. These 2022s may still be infants, but the leap forward Charles and the team have achieved is astonishing.
