Free Next Working Day Delivery over £199 | Order before 12PMAbout this Wine
A genuine Volnay rarity from Pierrick Bouley’s 0.25-hectare Premier Cru monopole. Because Les Grands Champs belongs entirely to the domaine, this is the only wine in existence from the vineyard. Just 900 bottles were produced, and this special release received a full 24 months of élevage, giving its concentrated red fruit, spice and firm Volnay structure additional time to settle and refine.
Floral and savoury, with redcurrant, raspberry, violet, black pepper, tea, and a stony mineral edge.
“Excellent wines from small producers which you can’t find elsewhere.”
Verified Trustpilot Review“The service has always been personal and excellent.”

Tasting Notes
A true Volnay monopole: one tiny Premier Cru vineyard, one domaine and just 900 bottles produced.

One Vineyard. One Domaine. One Wine.
Monopole is one of the most exciting words in Burgundy. It means the entire vineyard belongs to a single estate, and in the case of Les Grands Champs, that estate is Domaine Pierrick Bouley. No other grower can bottle this name. No other interpretation exists. To taste the vineyard, you have to taste Pierrick’s wine.
The parcel is tiny, just 0.25 hectares, and produced only 900 bottles in 2023. The wine is deep, concentrated and more powerful than the most delicate expressions of Volnay, with ripe red fruit, spice, fine tannin and a distinctly stony backbone.
Our bottles carry the domaine’s 24-month élevage stamp, giving this naturally structured Premier Cru an additional year to harmonise before release. A rare vineyard made rarer still.

The Plot
Les Grands Champs is a small Volnay Premier Cru monopole, owned and farmed entirely by Domaine Pierrick Bouley.
The southeast-facing vineyard covers just 0.25 hectares. Its soils are shallow and very stony, with the limestone bedrock sitting close beneath the surface. Limestone scree is mixed with clay, creating a site capable of delivering both mineral tension and impressive fruit concentration.
Because Pierrick controls the whole climat, his wine is the vineyard’s complete and only expression. There is no second grower, no alternative bottling and no other route into Les Grands Champs.
Technical Details
The grapes are harvested by hand in small cases to avoid crushing, before being emptied directly onto a vibrating sorting table.
Depending on the vintage, the fruit is partially destemmed and transferred to vat for a fermentation lasting approximately 18 to 20 days. A cold pre-fermentation maceration takes place at around 4°C for two to three days, after which fermentation begins naturally.
Pierrick monitors temperature and density daily, using gentle pump-overs and only very light punch-downs towards the end of fermentation.
The standard wine is normally matured for 12 months in oak without new barrels. This special bottling instead received a full 24 months of élevage, as shown by the domaine stamp on the label.
A total production amounted to just 900 bottles.
