Famille Messager-Germain is Burgundy’s bold new voice. Young, dynamic, and doing things their own way. Founded in 2022 by Adèle Germain and Simon Messager, this rising star is turning heads. They may be newcomers, but their roots run deep. She’s from the Côte de Beaune. He’s from the Côte de Nuits. Both trained at the Lycée Viticole de Beaune, before heading down very different paths: Simon learned his craft working with Burgundy legend Robert Groffier, while Adèle gained global perspective in Portugal, South Africa, New Zealand, and at Burgundian institutions like Joseph Drouhin and Château de Pommard.

United in Fixin, they’re reviving family vines and crafting pure, expressive wines that speak fluently of their terroir, and their ambition. Their largest cuvée is just 1,000 cases. Most are closer to 300. And their rarest wines? Just 100 cases.
THE WINEMAKING
Tradition Meets Precision
Everything is done by hand. Organically farmed, without certification and with minimal sulphur. Zero shortcuts. Reds are vibrant and juicy, built on whole bunch and energy. Whites are salty, sleek, and structured, with more tension than a thriller finale. Think Côte de Beaune minerality, Côte de Nuits punch. 2023 is only their second vintage, and already they’re expanding into new territory, with stunning wines from Nuits-Saint-Georges, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
FROM VINEYARD TO WINERY
Unwaivering attention to detail
Created uniquely for the domaine by Tonnellerie (barrel maker) Rousseau, the “Zébra” blends alternating oak staves – one lightly toasted, one barely touched. The result is a whisper of oak, not a shout. Just enough to add texture, not mask terroir. It’s a masterstroke.
From their brand new purpose-built winery in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the attention to detail in everything they do by Simon & Adèle is what truly makes Messager-Germain a domaine to be remembered.
Look closely at the vineyard floor and you might spot a flash of blue: Speedwell. Known in French as Véronique, it’s a humble wildflower that thrives between the vines, symbolising life, renewal, and the quiet beauty of working with nature.

With just a few hectares and a hands-on, organic-leaning approach, Adèle and Simon are crafting wines that are precise, pure, and full of promise. Their experience, both local and international, brings a refreshing energy to the Côte de Nuits.
The 2022s already show polish and finesse, and the 2023s promise even more. This is an estate in its early days, but the foundations are strong. For Burgundy drinkers keen to follow a rising domaine from its first steps, this is one to watch closely and drink with a big smile on your face!
