Sublime rich deep purple, this is quite glorious too, with such a sensational density of sublimely detailed red berry fruit. Balancing on the point of maximum ripeness, these raspberries are dropping with lusciousness. A ravishing hedonistic follow through seduces the palate without losing poise. Very fine and exceptionally persistent.
About this Wine
The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a rich, seductive and beautifully poised expression of one of Vosne-Romanée’s greatest sites. Deep red berry fruit, ripe raspberry, floral lift and silky concentration run through the wine, but the ripeness never becomes heavy. This is Grand Cru Burgundy with perfume, luxury, finesse and exceptional length.
Please note: We work directly with the Domaine, therefore all wines are available strictly on allocation. The wines are intended for drinking, not trading and are priced accordingly.

Tasting Notes

Arnoux-Lachaux’s Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2018 is one of the domaine’s most profound wines, and a deeply seductive expression of this legendary Vosne-Romanée Grand Cru. It has all the sensuality you would expect from the site, but with the precision and control that define Charles Lachaux’s work.
Rich, luminous and intensely perfumed, with deep red berry fruit, ripe raspberry, floral lift and a silky, almost weightless sense of concentration. There is real ripeness here, but it does not tip into heaviness. Instead, the wine feels poised, detailed and quietly expansive, building across the palate with great finesse and remarkable persistence.
This is Grand Cru Burgundy at its most captivating: generous, graceful, deeply aromatic and beautifully composed. A wine of luxury and delicacy in equal measure.

The Plot
Romanée-Saint-Vivant is one of Vosne-Romanée’s great Grand Cru vineyards, known for wines of perfume, silk and exceptional finesse. In the hands of Arnoux-Lachaux, the site takes on a particularly detailed and expressive character, combining aromatic richness with a precise, finely shaped palate.
The 2018 shows the vineyard’s natural seduction clearly: ripe red fruit, flowing texture and an almost effortless sense of length. It is generous, but never loose; powerful, but never forced.
Technical Details
In 2018, Charles Lachaux was already reshaping the domaine’s vineyard work, with some parcels trained higher and left untrimmed to encourage greater colour, concentration and fruit intensity. Picking began in early September, with low yields and balanced alcohols across the cellar.
