This was the tenth wine of the tasting, and my note at the time says everything: “I’m running out of superlatives for how these smell.”
Clos des Corvées Pagets makes the step up to Premier Cru unmistakable: more structure, more intent, more depth, but still with the precision and finesse that define these 2022s.
2022 also marks the Domaine’s first vintage raised entirely in ceramic.

Tasting Notes
Immersive blackcurrant, lifted red fruit and beautifully resolved Premier Cru structure.

This was the tenth wine of the tasting, and my note at the time says everything:
“I’m running out of superlatives for how these smell.”
The 2022s from Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux leave a mark, and this was a moment where that really landed.
The nose is intensely beautiful. Immediate, enveloping, almost immersive. Like burying your nose in a bowl of freshly picked blackcurrants. There’s depth and sweetness, but always a counterpoint of red fruit that keeps the wine lifted and alive.
On the palate, the step up to Premier Cru is unmistakable. There’s more structure here, more intent, but never at the expense of finesse.
When the viticulture is this precise, there’s no need to lean on oak for shape. The tannins are present, confident, and beautifully resolved.
That point feels especially important in 2022. This was the first vintage in which every wine at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux was raised entirely in ceramic, allowing the fruit, texture and vineyard character to come through without an oak imprint.

The Plot
Clos des Corvées Pagets sits firmly in Premier Cru territory, and the wine communicates that immediately through its greater depth and structure.
What stands out in 2022 is how naturally that additional power is carried. The black fruit is deeper, the tannins more present and the whole wine more serious, yet nothing feels heavy or forced.
It is a wine with authority, but also precision.
Technical Details
2022 marks a defining change at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux: the first vintage in which the entire range was raised exclusively in ceramic.
The wines spent an extended 36 months in neutral Clayver ceramic vessels before bottling, removing the aromatic and structural influence traditionally associated with oak and leaving fruit, tannin and site far more exposed.
Whole grapes remain central to the winemaking, while Charles’s vineyard work continues to focus on tall, untrimmed vines and permanent vegetation between the rows.
In Clos des Corvées Pagets, that approach is particularly revealing. The wine already possesses natural Premier Cru structure, so the ceramic élevage does not need to create shape. Instead, it leaves the blackcurrant fruit, red-fruit lift and beautifully resolved tannins to define the wine on their own terms.

Discover Their Story
There are turning points in every great region. Moments where tradition meets vision, and something extraordinary happens. For Burgundy, one of those moments is Charles Lachaux with the family domaine, Arnoux-Lachaux.
Since taking the reins of his family domaine in 2012, Charles has transformed Arnoux-Lachaux into one of the most closely followed names in the region. The wines are now among the most sought-after in the world – not for their rarity alone, but for their clarity, precision, and sense of life.
Our Take
Reading back through my notes, one word recurs like a heartbeat: perfume. Not as a throwaway cliché, but as a presence that truly rises from the glass. These 2022s may still be infants, but the leap forward Charles and the team have achieved is astonishing.
