The 2023 Chablis Charmoy, sourced from a south-facing site dominated by Portlandian soils, is a charming wine that unfurls in the glass with aromas of gooseberry, cherry plum, orange oil, almond paste and pear, mingled with beeswax and Madagascar vanilla. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, bright and vibrant, with a sweet core of fruit underpinned by tangy acidity and a vanilla-inflected finish yet simultaneously displays slightly greater cut than Arnaud’s other village bottlings this year.
About this Wine
A brighter, more energetic expression of Arnaud’s style, with ripe orchard fruit, citrus lift and a gently rounded texture. The old vines and long barrel ageing bring depth and breadth, while the stony Portlandian soils keep the wine fresh, precise and mineral. Generous but focused, with a long, clean finish and plenty of drive.
Bright and mineral, with pear, gooseberry, white blossom and a subtle vanilla roundness.

Tasting Notes
A bright, mineral Chablis with ripe orchard fruit, citrus freshness and a gently rounded texture, finishing long, clean and stony.

Bright Fruit, Fine Texture, Mineral Energy
Charmoy is a lively, finely balanced Chablis with a little more freshness and definition than some of Jérémy Arnaud’s broader village wines. There is ripe orchard fruit at its core, lifted by citrus and a subtle floral character, while the palate combines gentle richness with a firm, energetic line of acidity. A touch of oak adds texture without dominating, leading into a long, clean finish with plenty of mineral drive.

The Plot
Charmoy sits on the left bank of the Serein, above the village of Beine. The south-facing parcel lies at the beginning of the slope, with old Chardonnay vines planted in 1955 on stony clay-limestone soils over Portlandian subsoil. The combination of mature vines, warm exposure and lean soils gives the wine both depth and freshness.
Technical Details
Hand-harvested Chardonnay from old vines planted in 1955 on a south-facing site above Beine. Stony clay-limestone soils lie over Portlandian Jurassic subsoil. Vinified without added yeast or bacteria, followed by 12 month ageing in barrel followed 12 months in stainless steel to preserve freshness.

Discover Their Story
Jérémy Arnaud’s ascent toward Chablis cult status traces back to 1990, when his father planted the family’s first solitary hectare.
Jérémy stepped in with just half a hectare of his own in 2017, and his holdings have since multiplied tenfold, mirroring the speed and certainty of his rise. He stands at the vanguard of a new Chablis generation, rejecting pesticides, harvesting by hand, and ageing in true wooden barrels to craft wines with striking texture, tension and depth.
