Tasting Notes
Powerful, mineral Corton Grand Cru with citrus, red apple and brioche, combining serious depth with a long, precise finish.
The first impression is one of scale. The palate is broad, fleshy and powerful, with lemon, lime and ripe red apple at the centre, followed by brioche, gentle toast and a subtle savoury richness from élevage.
Underneath all of that weight is the thing that keeps pulling you back: minerality. There is a clear stony line running through the wine, giving shape and precision to what is otherwise a very generous, concentrated style.
The finish is exceptionally long, carrying citrus, mineral and lightly toasted notes well beyond the palate. Powerful enough to feel unmistakably Grand Cru, but with the freshness and definition to stop it ever feeling heavy.

The Plot
Domaine Frey works just 0.0976 hectares of Corton Grand Cru, making this one of the smallest parcels in the range.
The vines average around 40 years old, planted on brown soils scattered with stones and hard limestone gravel over a foundation of marly limestone.
It is a tiny piece of one of Burgundy’s most important hills, producing a wine with both serious concentration and a strong mineral backbone.
Technical Details
The Chardonnay is harvested by hand before whole-cluster pressing in a pneumatic press and static clarification.
Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in oak barrels, where the wine remains for around 15 months.
The longer élevage gives the wine breadth and texture, while the limestone-rich soils preserve the citrus freshness and mineral tension that define the finish.

Discover Their Story
There’s a new generation behind Domaine Frey. Now led by Caroline Frey's sister, Delphine Frey alongside young cellar master Axelle Piska, formerly of Domaine Étienne Sauzet, the seven-hectare estate is entering an exciting new chapter.
From Pommard, Volnay and Meursault to the slopes of Aloxe-Corton, its tiny range culminates in three Grands Crus, including their own Monopole, Corton Grand Cru ‘Le Clos du Château’. Organic farming, biodynamic principles and a new precision in the cellar are putting this historic domaine firmly back on the map.

Verified ReviewerFAQs
Clear details, so you can buy with confidence
Is this wine ready to drink now?
Yes. This is ready to drink now, but a little patience could make it even more rewarding. Open one soon, then tuck another away if you want to watch it develop.
Should I buy one bottle or a few?
One to try, three if you want to follow it over time, six if you already know the producer or style. Burgundy moves quickly, and small parcels rarely hang around for long.

How quickly will it arrive?
Fast. We ship every wine on a next-working-day service and dispatch Monday to Friday. At checkout, you can even choose a delivery day that suits you.
How is it packed?
Each bottle is wrapped in tissue before being carefully placed into our specially imported Italian boxes, tested to rigorous standards. We have literally dropped them from the first storey of our house. All our packaging is paper-based and recyclable.
Can I send it as a gift?
Absolutely. As standard, our wines arrive wrapped in bespoke tissue paper. At checkout, you can also add gift bags, gift boxes and notes.
