Wine Details
Scale, Energy, and Something That Pulls You Back In.
First written about in 1746, and still living up to every bit of that reputation today.
From 90+ year old vines, sitting directly across the road from Le Montrachet. This is the heart of it. The part that matters.
This is also where Pierre first pushed the canopy higher, chasing more light, more energy. The proof is in the glass.
The nose is like standing outside on the 5th November. Fireworks. Proper fireworks. Citrus, white flowers, ripe stone fruit, all bursting out at once.
Then it settles into something deeper.
This is not just a wine. It’s a whole narrative. A story that keeps unfolding. Layer after layer, drawing you back in for one more moment, one more glass.
There is weight here, real density of fruit, but it never feels heavy. Everything moves. Everything flows. Rich stone fruit, floral lift, and a freshness that carries right through the wine.
A complete wine. Nothing missing. Nothing out of place.
The Plot
Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru sits at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, with this parcel located directly across the road from Le Montrachet itself. This is one of the most sought-after positions in Burgundy, known for producing wines of both power and depth. The vines, over 90 years old, contribute concentration, complexity, and a natural intensity that defines the site.
Technical
100% Chardonnay from Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, sourced from vines over 90 years old, planted on classic limestone-rich soils in one of Burgundy’s most revered vineyard sites.
In the cellar, the approach follows the domaine’s signature style. Whole bunches are pressed long and firmly to extract maximum lees, with controlled oxidation only at this early stage. Fermentation takes place in custom 456-litre barrels for both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, keeping oak influence subtle and allowing the vineyard to lead. From pressing to bottling, the wine is protected with nitrogen, preserving its energy, balance, and layered, flowing structure.
