Tasting

Notes

Clos de la Colinette is the kind of vineyard that already feels like a story before you taste the wine. Hidden through the forest, wrapped in woodland and cooled by its own little world, this monopole gives a Savagnin of real calm and depth. White flowers, lemon, grapefruit, peach, apricot and flint move through a richer, broader palate, cut clean by a mineral streak that keeps everything beautifully balanced.

Discover their Story

Château de l'Étoile

Château de l’Étoile is Louis Fourrier’s first chapter in the Jura: a historic estate in one of the region’s smallest and most distinctive appellations, where old vines sit among marl, limestone, woodland and cool mountain-edged air.

The wines are delicate, mineral and quietly electric, shaped by careful farming, minimal intervention and a deep respect for place. There is a Burgundian calm to the way Louis works, but these are not Burgundy-shaped wines. They are Jura through and through: bright, tense, expressive and complete.

Wine Details

Wine Details

Walk through the forest and almost from nowhere, the vineyard appears… a walled clos, wrapped in woodland, cooled by its own little world. After the walk in, it feels like a mirage. And then the wine does exactly what you hope it will.

White flowers come first, then lemon, grapefruit, peach, apricot and flint. There is proper richness here, a little more breadth and depth than the other Savagnin, but it never feels heavy. That mineral streak runs straight through the middle, keeping everything balanced on a knife edge.

It builds with air.

Broader, deeper, more complete. This is 100% Savagnin from old vines, harvested two weeks later than the rest of the estate because of the coolness of the vineyard. That extra time shows in the density, the shape and the quiet authority of the wine.

An absolute triumph, and one I only wish there was more of.

The Plot

Clos de la Colinette is a monopole in L’Étoile, hidden through the forest and enclosed by its own walls. The woodland around it keeps the vineyard cooler, which means the fruit is harvested around two weeks later than the rest of the estate. The vines are old, and that combination of coolness, time and age gives the wine its balance of richness, tension and mineral precision.

Technical

This is 100% Savagnin from old vines in the Clos de la Colinette monopole. The cooler site means a longer growing window, with harvest taking place around two weeks later than the rest of the estate. The result is a wine with more density and completeness, but still carried by the bright mineral line that defines the best wines of L’Étoile.

Why Burgundy?

Discover the region

Burgundy has crafted legendary wines for over 2,000 years. The birthplace of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it’s where every slope, village, and vineyard reveals its own voice of terroir. You can grow vines anywhere, but only here is this magic bottled so beautifully.

There’s a saying amongst wine enthusiasts that all roads lead to Burgundy. We say, why not start there…
