About this Wine
Perhaps the best-sited village plot in all of Vosne, Les Hautes Maizières sits perfectly triangulated between Les Suchots, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti holdings in Échézeaux and the historic Clos de Vougeot. If location matters, this one shouts it.
2022 also marks a turning point at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux: the first vintage in which the entire range was raised exclusively in ceramic.
Please note: We work directly with the Domaine, therefore all wines are available strictly on allocation. The wines are intended for drinking, not trading and are priced accordingly.

Tasting Notes
Dark, powerful and deeply spiced Vosne from an extraordinary site, with violet, liquorice and serious structure.

This is always a muscular Vosne, a wine that doesn’t rush to reveal itself. It asks for patience. And for those willing to give it time, the rewards are profound.
As a small aside, I opened the 2019 on New Year’s Eve 2025 and it was mind-numbingly brilliant.
The 2022 follows the same path. The nose is layered and deliberate: a flicker of spice, a hint of pepper, a dusting of liquorice and a touch of violet woven through it all. There’s real detail here, and it rewards slow, attentive tasting.
On the palate, this is about depth and power rather than overt elegance. Rich, dark fruit dominates, delivered with authority, exactly as Charles says is typical of this vineyard. Structure is firm, the intent unmistakable.
Yet there is an extraordinary clarity running through it. 2022 was the first vintage at Arnoux-Lachaux raised entirely in ceramic, removing the flavouring influence of oak and leaving the vineyard increasingly exposed in the glass.
Put this away for five years. Then revel in it.

The Plot
Les Hautes Maizières has one of those locations that makes you stop and look at the map.
The parcel sits between some extraordinary company: Les Suchots to one side, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti holdings in Échézeaux nearby, and Clos de Vougeot immediately beyond.
Despite its village classification, its position places it firmly amongst some of Vosne’s most celebrated terroirs.
The wine has its own personality too. Charles describes this site as naturally powerful, and that comes through clearly in 2022: darker fruit, greater breadth and a firmer structural frame than many of the domaine’s other Vosne cuvées.
Technical Details
2022 marks a defining moment at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux. It was the first vintage in which every wine from the domaine was raised entirely in ceramic, completing Charles Lachaux’s move away from traditional oak barrels.
The wines spent an extended 36 months in neutral Clayver ceramic vessels before bottling. The purpose is simple: remove the aromatic and structural influence of oak and allow fruit, vineyard and soil to speak as clearly as possible.
Whole grapes remain central to the winemaking, while Charles’s vineyard work centres around permanent ground cover and tall, untrimmed vines designed to encourage balanced ripening and preserve freshness.
With Les Hautes Maizières, the effect is particularly fascinating. This is naturally one of the more muscular, structured wines in the cellar, yet the ceramic élevage leaves that power completely exposed rather than softened or sweetened by oak. What remains is dark fruit, spice, structure and an unusually direct expression of the site.

Discover Their Story
There are turning points in every great region. Moments where tradition meets vision, and something extraordinary happens. For Burgundy, one of those moments is Charles Lachaux with the family domaine, Arnoux-Lachaux.
Since taking the reins of his family domaine in 2012, Charles has transformed Arnoux-Lachaux into one of the most closely followed names in the region. The wines are now among the most sought-after in the world – not for their rarity alone, but for their clarity, precision, and sense of life.
Our Take
Reading back through my notes, one word recurs like a heartbeat: perfume. Not as a throwaway cliché, but as a presence that truly rises from the glass. These 2022s may still be infants, but the leap forward Charles and the team have achieved is astonishing.

How quickly will it arrive?
Fast. We ship every wine on a next-working-day service and dispatch Monday to Friday. At checkout, you can even choose a delivery day that suits you.
How is it packed?
Each bottle is wrapped in tissue before being carefully placed into our specially imported Italian boxes, tested to rigorous standards. We have literally dropped them from the first storey of our house. All our packaging is paper-based and recyclable.
Can I send it as a gift?
Absolutely. As standard, our wines arrive wrapped in bespoke tissue paper. At checkout, you can also add gift bags, gift boxes and notes.
