Tasting

Notes

Clos du Château is the star wine of Château de l’Étoile, drawn from the walled monopole at the top of Mount Muzard, just behind the château. It is serious from the first moment, with oyster shell, lemon, green apple and flint giving way to peach, stone fruit and saline depth. Bright, mineral and deeply satisfying, it has enough density to feel generous, but enough freshness to keep everything moving.

Discover their Story

Château de l'Étoile

Château de l’Étoile is Louis Fourrier’s first chapter in the Jura: a historic estate in one of the region’s smallest and most distinctive appellations, where old vines sit among marl, limestone, woodland and cool mountain-edged air.

The wines are delicate, mineral and quietly electric, shaped by careful farming, minimal intervention and a deep respect for place. There is a Burgundian calm to the way Louis works, but these are not Burgundy-shaped wines. They are Jura through and through: bright, tense, expressive and complete.

Wine Details

Wine Details

At the top of Mount Muzard, just behind the château, there was once a castle built in the 1100s and destroyed in the 1500s. Local history says vines have always grown here.

Today, the Clos du Château sits surrounded by pine trees, cooled by shade, stone and altitude. A tiny walled clos, protected from the outside world, producing what Louis calls the wine that “keeps the DNA of the terroir, no matter the decade.”

And you can feel that seriousness immediately.

Oyster shell, lemon flesh, green apple and flint come first, then a richer wave of peach and stone fruit underneath. There is a brilliant saline line running through the wine, giving it drive, grip and that quiet, deeply satisfying sense of completeness.

It feels generous, but never heavy.

Serious, mineral, bright and complete. The kind of wine that makes you understand the whole château in one glass.

The Plot

Clos du Château is a walled monopole at the top of Mount Muzard, just behind Château de l’Étoile. Surrounded by pine trees and cooled by shade, altitude and stone, it is one of the estate’s most protected and distinctive sites. Local history says vines have grown here since the time of the old castle, making this a vineyard with both real presence and deep memory.

Technical

This is 100% Savagnin from the Clos du Château monopole, one of the château’s most important sites. The vineyard’s cool, protected position helps preserve freshness, while the old vines and walled setting give the wine its depth, density and mineral structure. The result is the most complete wine in the range: bright, saline, serious and deeply expressive.

Burgundy has crafted legendary wines for over 2,000 years. The birthplace of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it’s where every slope, village, and vineyard reveals its own voice of terroir. You can grow vines anywhere, but only here is this magic bottled so beautifully.

There’s a saying amongst wine enthusiasts that all roads lead to Burgundy. We say, why not start there…
