For over 40 years, Domaine Alain Gras has been the benchmark name in Saint-Romain, crafting wines that elevate this often-overlooked village to greatness. Perched high in the hills of the Côte de Beaune, his domaine produces remarkably pure, energetic white Burgundies and finely structured reds, wines that regularly punch above their village classification and offer astonishing value.
Their Saint-Romain wines are, of course, outstanding. But it’s their tiny, almost mythical cuvée of Meursault, simply titled Le Meursault, that truly astonishes.
The "POPE" of Saint-Romain
Alain Gras took over his family’s modest holding in the 1970s, long before Saint-Romain had earned its place on the Burgundy map. A true pioneer, he championed the village when few others saw its potential, elevating it through meticulous vineyard work and instinctive winemaking. Today, his bottles are stocked across most of France’s three-star Michelin restaurants.
Now Alain remains hands-on in the cellar, crafting each wine with care and consistency, while his son Arthur leads the charge in the vineyards, continuing the family legacy with fresh energy and a deep respect for the land.
