Tasting Notes

Citrus, blossom, and stone: Le Mont 2024, tiny production made high above Nuits-Saint-Georges.

‘Le Mont’ Hautes-Côtes de Nuits

High on Freshness

Le Mont is a wine born from altitude, its 350m plateau breathing coolness and clarity into every sip. Grapefruit zest and peach meet juicy melon, while honeysuckle glides through a chalky mineral line. It’s a Chardonnay with lift, light, and tension - only 2,200 bottles made.

The Plot

Perched on the old pastures above Nuits-Saint-Georges, this parcel sits at 350 metres on clay-limestone soils laced with Burgundy lava. The plateau’s winds and thin soils bring freshness and bite, making this a terroir that delivers both fruit and tension.

Technical Details

Manual harvest on September 22, with a gentle 3–4 hour press and natural settling by gravity. Fermentation was spontaneous with native yeasts. Ageing lasted 9 months, split between 60% oak barrels (20% new) and 40% stainless steel, bringing balance and finesse.

Discover Their Story

Ex Nihilo

Founded by Morgane and Alban Desazars, this young house brings Champagne polish to Côte d’Or terroir.

They may be recent arrivals, but their journey runs deep. Alban works directly in the vines, guiding the raw material from soil to cellar. Morgane brings sharp vision and precision. Together, they craft single-plot wines with patience, instinct, and a touch of daring – miniscule volumes, but big character.

FAQs

Clear details, so you can buy with confidence

Is this wine ready to drink now?

Yes, especially if you enjoy youthful, vibrant Burgundy. It has plenty to give now, but there is more to come with a little time in bottle.

Should I buy one bottle or a few?

One to try, three if you want to follow it over time, six if you already know the producer or style. Burgundy moves quickly, and small parcels rarely hang around for long.

What if I’m not sure this is my style?

Use our live chat, or pop us an email. We specialise in Burgundy and are always happy to help. Our tasting notes are based on wines tasted by our founders and updated regularly, so you can buy with proper confidence.

How quickly will it arrive?

Fast. We ship every wine on a next-working-day service and dispatch Monday to Friday. At checkout, you can even choose a delivery day that suits you.

How is it packed?

Each bottle is wrapped in tissue before being carefully placed into our specially imported Italian boxes, tested to rigorous standards. We have literally dropped them from the first storey of our house. All our packaging is paper-based and recyclable.

Can I send it as a gift?

Absolutely. As standard, our wines arrive wrapped in bespoke tissue paper. At checkout, you can also add gift bags, gift boxes and notes.
