Château de l’Étoile is Louis Fourrier’s first chapter in the Jura: a historic estate in one of the region’s smallest and most distinctive appellations, where old vines sit among marl, limestone, woodland and cool mountain-edged air.
The wines are delicate, mineral and quietly electric, shaped by careful farming, minimal intervention and a deep respect for place. There is a Burgundian calm to the way Louis works, but these are not Burgundy-shaped wines. They are Jura through and through: bright, tense, expressive and complete.

From old-vine Chardonnay and Savagnin to rare Savagnin Rose and a tiny-production Jura red, Château de l’Étoile is a small but remarkably varied range shaped by old vines, cool sites and Louis Fourrier’s restrained touch.

Château de l’Étoile marks a completely different expression of Louis Fourrier’s winemaking. Here, old vines, cool conditions and distinctive Jura soils give him a new set of materials to work with. The result is a range that carries his familiar precision and restraint, but remains firmly rooted in L’Étoile.

The estate’s vineyards sit among clay-limestone soils, marl, woodland and cool mountain-edged air. Some vines are decades old: the Savagnin Rose comes from vines around 60 to 70 years old, while the red includes parcels planted as far back as 1956. Clos du Château is a walled monopole at the top of Mount Muzard, surrounded by pine trees and cooled by shade, altitude and stone.

The approach is deliberately restrained. Natural yeasts are used, new oak is avoided, and the wines are handled in a way that keeps fruit, freshness and site at the forefront. The Savagnin is fermented in stainless steel before ageing in old barrels, while the Savagnin Rose remains entirely in stainless steel. The Côtes du Jura Rouge is fully destemmed, naturally fermented and raised in old Fourrier barrels from Gevrey-Chambertin.
Two of the most distinctive wines come from tiny monopole sites. Clos du Château sits within the walls above the château and produces one of the most complete wines in the range, combining mineral drive with depth and saline structure. Clos de la Colinette offers another small, distinctive expression of L’Étoile, with the same bright mineral line running through the wine.

Why we’re excited
Château de l’Étoile feels like a genuinely new chapter for Louis Fourrier. The wines have the precision and restraint we associate with him, but the character is unmistakably Jura: bright, mineral, expressive and full of energy.
What makes it especially exciting is the combination of old vines, tiny production and a collection of distinctive sites. From rare Savagnin Rose to the monopole wines and the beautifully composed Côtes du Jura Rouge, the first vintage already feels remarkably assured.
