Wine Details
Tension. Precision. Power.
One of Chassagne’s most revered sites, often spoken of in the same breath as the very best. You can see why. But it doesn’t need the comparison.
The nose is deep and composed. Citrus peel, white flowers, wet stone, with a gentle veil of popcorn that slowly lifts, revealing more with time in the glass.
On the palate, it’s all lime and energy. Taut, mineral, and driving. A chalky, saline edge cuts through the core, giving it real definition and focus. There’s weight here, but it never shows itself fully. Everything is held tight, controlled, precise.
This is not a wine that gives everything away. Not yet.
It holds back, slowly building, promising more with time.
The Plot
La Romanée is one of the most highly regarded Premier Cru sites in Chassagne-Montrachet, known for producing wines of intensity, structure, and longevity. The vineyard sits on classic clay-limestone soils with a strong chalk influence, contributing to the wine’s tension, minerality, and ageing potential.
Technical
100% Chardonnay from the Premier Cru La Romanée vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet, grown on clay-limestone soils with a high proportion of chalk, supporting both structure and precision.
In the cellar, the approach follows the domaine’s signature style. Whole bunches are pressed long and firmly to extract maximum lees, with controlled oxidation only at this early stage. Fermentation takes place in custom 456-litre barrels for both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, limiting oak influence and allowing the vineyard character to lead. From pressing to bottling, the wine is protected with nitrogen, preserving tension, energy, and a tightly wound structure designed for ageing.
