Tasting

Notes

This Beaune Premier Cru sits between legends — Clos des Mouches on one side, Pommard’s Epenots on the other — and it lives up to the postcode. Cherry, violet and spice glide across a silky frame, with gentle tannins and a clean, polished finish. A wine with charm, flow, and just enough attitude. Easy to drink now, but far too classy to rush.

Discover their Story

Domaine A.F. Gros

A.F. Gros is where two great Burgundy families, Gros and Parent come together.

Now led by siblings Caroline and Mathias Parent, this next-gen duo brings fresh energy to a legacy of precision.

From Bourgogne to Richebourg, every wine gets the same care: whole bunch ferments, ceramic ageing, and a quiet radicalism behind the classic style.

Wine Details

Wine Details

Just above Epenots. Just below Clos des Mouches. Beaune’s best-kept secret.

Les Boucherottes may not have the fame of its neighbours, but it’s got all the flavour. Grown on deep clay soils just above Epenots and bordering the legendary Clos des Mouches, this wine brings the best of both worlds: floral elegance, juicy fruit, and Premier Cru plushness. Expect ripe cherry, fresh strawberry and a whisper of violet, carried on soft tannins and a perfectly balanced frame. There’s no flash, just finesse — and plenty of it.

📍 The Plot

Tucked between two iconic vineyards, Les Boucherottes is a low-slope Premier Cru with excellent clay-rich soils. That gives it a bit more fruit depth than many Beaunes, while keeping its hallmark softness and polish. A bit under-the-radar, but not for long.

🍇 Technical

Hand-harvested and fermented with 50–80% whole bunches, then aged in a mix of ceramic and oak barrels with no more than 20% new wood. Elegant now, but will age gracefully into the 2030s.

Vineyard Beaune

Village Appellation  •  1,022 Acres Farmed

Beaune, the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, is celebrated for its elegant and balanced wines, embodying centuries of winemaking tradition. The reds are typically silky, with red berry flavours, earthy undertones, and fine tannins, while the whites are lively and fresh, showcasing citrus, pear, and subtle mineral notes. Though known for this approachable and graceful style, some selections surprise with boldness or delicate finesse, offering diverse interpretations of this historic appellation.

Nestled south of the regional capital, Beaune’s vineyards sprawl across southeast-facing slopes, benefiting from optimal sun exposure and a mix of limestone and clay soils. These conditions create an ideal terroir for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with the Premier Cru vineyards—spanning over half of the appellation—yielding particularly complex and age-worthy wines. Esteemed sites like Les Grèves, Les Marconnets, and Clos des Mouches are among the jewels of this prestigious appellation.

Beaune’s historical significance runs deep; it has been a viticultural hub since Roman times and is home to the Hospices de Beaune. This medieval charity hospital is renowned for hosting the world’s oldest wine auction every November since 1859. To this day, this event highlights the enduring quality and prestige of Beaune’s vineyards while supporting local charities.

With ancient alluvial soils, excellent drainage, and a temperate climate, Beaune’s terroir produces wines that encapsulate the finesse and diversity of the Côte de Beaune. Its storied history, outstanding Premier Cru plots, and distinctive wines make Beaune a cornerstone of Burgundy’s global reputation for winemaking excellence.
