Les Pucelles is one of the great Premier Cru names of Puligny-Montrachet, sitting immediately beside the Grand Cru, Bâtard-Montrachet. Morey-Coffinet owns just 0.20 hectares here, making this one of the rarest wines of the domaine.
The 2023 begins with beauty: white flowers, ripe citrus, white peach and a little exotic fruit. Then it seems to pull itself tighter in the glass, becoming finer, steelier and increasingly mineral.
There is richness and texture, but everything feels controlled. Fresh acidity gives the wine movement, while a savoury, mineral line carries right through the palate into a remarkably persistent finish.
Refined, intense and wonderfully alive. This is Puligny with real grace, but also the structure and energy to become something very special with time.
Floral and citrus-bright, with white peach, silky texture, fine spice, and a steely mineral line.
“Excellent wines from small producers which you can’t find elsewhere.”
Verified Trustpilot Review“The service has always been personal and excellent.”
Verified Trustpilot Review“Great wines, very reasonably priced, and customer service is excellent.”
Verified Trustpilot Review“Ben is super friendly, knowledgeable and takes time out to make sure you are assisted personally.”

Tasting Notes
A tiny parcel of great Puligny: white flowers, citrus and peach wrapped around a steely mineral core and remarkable persistence.

There is something wonderfully sensual about great Pucelles. The 2023 begins with pure brightness: white flowers, lemon and citrus, white peach and just a little mango. It is immediately beautiful, but give it a moment in the glass and the wine begins to change.
The fruit pulls itself back into line. The palate becomes firmer, steelier and more mineral, with fresh acidity running underneath the ripe fruit and giving everything direction.
There is richness here, but also control. The texture is silky and generous, while that steely backbone keeps pushing through, joined by a subtle savoury edge and fine spice on the long finish.
It does not need to be broad or loud. It glides. There is an effortless grace to it, but underneath that beauty is serious structure, tension and energy.
The sort of white Burgundy that seems to move in the glass, revealing a little more every time you go back.
Refined, intense and completely captivating.

The Plot
Les Pucelles is one of Puligny-Montrachet's most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards, lying immediately north of Bâtard-Montrachet on the great white-wine slope.
Morey-Coffinet owns just 0.20 hectares here. The parcel is east facing, at the beginning of the hillside, with Chardonnay planted in 1999 over clay and limestone soils.
It is an unusually precious holding for a domaine otherwise rooted almost entirely in Chassagne-Montrachet, and its tiny size means production is inevitably minute.
The vineyard's position beside Bâtard-Montrachet hints at its pedigree, but Pucelles has a personality all of its own: finesse, floral purity and a steely mineral structure that can give the wines extraordinary energy and length.
Technical Details
100% Chardonnay, hand harvested from Morey-Coffinet's certified organic vineyards, with the domaine also working according to biodynamic principles.
The tiny 0.20-hectare Les Pucelles parcel was planted in 1999 and is trained using single Guyot-Poussard pruning.
Rather wonderfully, the soils here are worked by horse.
Vinification and élevage take place for 14 to 16 months exclusively in 350 litre oak barrels, with around 50% new oak.
The wine is fined with bentonite but left unfiltered before bottling under natural cork and wax.
