About this Wine
This is not rosé. It is Savagnin Rose, a rare mutation of Jura’s great white grape, and one of the most exciting bottles in the Château de l’Étoile allocation. Louis Fourrier describes the flavour as almost passionfruit-like, and that sense of exotic brightness runs right through the wine. It is vivid, naked and beautifully direct, with wild citrus, mineral energy and a thrilling sense that you are drinking something barely seen, quietly preserved and properly alive.

Firstly, this is not rosé. This is Savagnin Rose, a rare mutation of Jura’s great white grape, and one of the most quietly thrilling bottles in the Château de l’Étoile allocation. Almost gone. Barely seen. Still protected in L’Étoile, one of the last places holding onto it.
And then you smell it.
Louis describes it as exotic, almost passionfruit-like, and he is not wrong. There is wild citrus, bright tropical fruit, a little floral lift, and that clean Jura snap underneath it all. Nothing oxidative. Nothing heavy. Just this extraordinary grape, bright, naked and completely alive.
It does not taste like a curiosity. It tastes like a secret that somehow made it into bottle.

The Plot
The vines are 60 to 70 years old, rooted in clay, silt and limestone, giving a wine that feels both delicate and wildly expressive. Only around 300 bottles were made for the world, making this one of the smallest and most fascinating cuvées in Louis Fourrier’s first Château de l’Étoile vintage.
Technical Details
Louis keeps the winemaking deliberately simple here. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel, with no oak and no oxidation, preserving the pure, exotic character of Savagnin Rose. The result is a bright, direct and unusually expressive Jura white, shaped more by grape, place and old vines than by cellar work.

Château de l’Étoile is Louis Fourrier’s first chapter in the Jura: a historic estate in one of the region’s smallest and most distinctive appellations, where old vines sit among marl, limestone, woodland and cool mountain-edged air.
The wines are delicate, mineral and quietly electric, shaped by careful farming, minimal intervention and a deep respect for place. There is a Burgundian calm to the way Louis works, but these are not Burgundy-shaped wines. They are Jura through and through: bright, tense, expressive and complete.

Each bottle is wrapped in tissue before being carefully placed into our specially imported Italian boxes, tested to rigorous standards. We have literally dropped them from the first storey of our house. All our packaging is paper-based and recyclable.
