Drawn from three perfectly placed, east-facing plots around Vosne-Romanée, this is the appellation in unmistakable voice. It also comes from a landmark vintage at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux: 2022 was the first year in which the entire range was raised exclusively in ceramic, completing Charles Lachaux’s move away from traditional oak élevage.
Please note: We work directly with the Domaine, therefore all wines are available strictly on allocation. The wines are intended for drinking, not trading and are priced accordingly.

Tasting Notes
Explosive strawberry, emerging blueberry and immense concentration from Arnoux-Lachaux’s first 100% ceramic vintage.

Tasted in the cool calm of the domaine’s cellar, it begins with an almost shocking burst of strawberry. Nuclear in its intensity.
Give it a minute. Let the glass warm. The wine shifts, unfurls, deepens. Blueberries begin to emerge, the transformation happening in real time. Imagine what a few years in bottle will do.
On the palate, the concentration is absolute. Undiluted. Like fruit cordial before water ever touches it. There’s power here, dark and savoury too, reminiscent of lightly roasted blackberries you might serve alongside venison loin.
Structure is present, confident, perfectly judged, knitting everything together without ever getting in the way.
And perhaps that sense of clarity is the defining feature of these 2022s. This was the first vintage at Arnoux-Lachaux raised entirely in ceramic, with Charles removing the aromatic influence of oak in pursuit of a more direct expression of fruit, soil and place. In this Vosne, that feels particularly revealing.
Dense. Delicious. And utterly Vosne.

The Plot
Drawn from three perfectly placed, east-facing plots around the commune, this is Vosne-Romanée in unmistakable voice. Serve this blind to even a fledgling Burgundy lover and they’d find it in seconds.
The combination of exposition and Charles Lachaux’s viticultural approach produces fruit of striking concentration while retaining the perfume and definition that make Vosne so recognisable. Across the domaine, vines are trained tall rather than trimmed, with permanent vegetation retained between the rows as part of an approach designed to reduce vine stress and encourage balanced ripening.
Technical Details
2022 marks a genuine turning point for Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux. It was the first vintage in which every wine from the domaine was aged exclusively in ceramic, specifically Clayver vessels, completing Charles Lachaux’s move away from traditional oak barrels.
The wines remained in ceramic for an extended 36-month élevage before bottling. The choice is fundamentally about neutrality: allowing the wine to evolve slowly without the aromatic imprint of wood, leaving fruit, structure, soil and vineyard character as exposed as possible.
Whole grapes remain central to the domaine’s winemaking, while the vineyard work is equally distinctive, with permanent ground cover and vines trained to around 1.8 metres rather than routinely trimmed. In the warm 2022 season, that approach helped maintain balance and preserved acidity while producing small, concentrated fruit.

Discover Their Story
There are turning points in every great region. Moments where tradition meets vision, and something extraordinary happens. For Burgundy, one of those moments is Charles Lachaux with the family domaine, Arnoux-Lachaux.
Since taking the reins of his family domaine in 2012, Charles has transformed Arnoux-Lachaux into one of the most closely followed names in the region. The wines are now among the most sought-after in the world – not for their rarity alone, but for their clarity, precision, and sense of life.
Our Take
Reading back through my notes, one word recurs like a heartbeat: perfume. Not as a throwaway cliché, but as a presence that truly rises from the glass. These 2022s may still be infants, but the leap forward Charles and the team have achieved is astonishing.
Never before has each wine been so immediately, unmistakably itself with just a single breath over the rim.
The oak veil has been lifted, and the great beauty of the Pinot Noir grape is on full show.
This release feels like a turning point in Burgundian history. A new era beginning to unfold.
