About this Wine
Made from a mixed vineyard planted by Pierrick Bouley’s grandfather, this is a traditional blend of 70% Gamay and 30% Pinot Noir. Light in colour but wonderfully expressive, it brings together fresh cherries, delicate florals and a fine, almost weightless texture. Passetoutgrain is often treated as Burgundy’s simplest red, but in Pierrick’s hands it becomes something far more refined.
Bright and perfumed, with cherry, wild strawberry, violet and black pepper across a silky, weightless frame.

Tasting Notes
A beautifully fine and fragrant blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir, with bright cherry fruit, elegant structure and remarkable finesse.

Passetoutgrain through the hands of a Volnay purist.
This is extraordinarily fine. Pale ruby in the glass, then lifted cherries, wild strawberries and a flicker of violet drift from the glass. The palate feels silky and ethereal, with the juicy energy of Gamay shaped by the perfume and delicacy of Pinot Noir.
There is no heaviness here. Just pure red fruit, gentle spice and a beautifully fresh finish that leaves you immediately reaching for another glass.
Japser Morris at Inside Burgundy awarded it five stars and 89–90 points, describing a remarkably fine and elegant wine with an almost whole-bunch-like sense of lift, despite Pierrick completely destemming his fruit.

The Plot
The wine comes from Monpoulain and Coulezain, two lieux-dits covering just 0.45 hectares at the foot of the Volnay hillside.
The Pinot Noir and Gamay were planted together by Pierrick’s grandfather, creating a traditional mixed vineyard rather than two parcels blended together later. Production is tiny, averaging around 1,200 bottles each year.
Technical Details
A blend of 70% Gamay and 30% Pinot Noir, harvested from the same mixed planting and vinified together.
Pierrick completely destems the fruit before fermentation, using gentle extraction to preserve perfume and finesse. No sulphur is added during vinification, with only a minimal addition made later for stability.
