Vinelights
Scene-Stealing Fixin. Rising Star of the Côte de Nuits. Just 600 bottles made.
White Burgundy from Fixin is rare. White Burgundy like this is rarer still. From a single plot on limestone-rich soils in the north of the appellation, ‘Côté Jardin’ is both a technical triumph and an expressive beauty. Citrus peel, blood orange, and a flicker of flint light up the nose. On the palate, it’s rich yet precise—brioche, butter, and mineral depth glide together in perfect step.
The Name
‘Côté Jardin’ is stage direction in French—the “garden side” of the theatre. (Much more elegant than our British “stage right”!) Paired with Côté Cour—its red sibling from the same plot—this wine is part of a duo that brings a touch of theatre to the vineyard. But Côté Jardin doesn’t play second fiddle. It takes centre stage with clarity and grace, showing the quiet power of a site that deserves the spotlight.
Technical
From 17-year-old Chardonnay vines on the “Les Treuilles” plot in northern Fixin. Clay-limestone soils with a strong limestone presence. Hand-harvested and gently pressed for over two hours. Fermented in 600L demi-muids. Aged 12 months on fine lees. Light filtration, no fining. Built around noble reduction and minimalist precision.
