A Patchwork of Greatness
Philippe’s 2022 Meursault is a master-blend of five superb plots: Pellans (just below Charmes 1er Cru), Gruyaches (beside Charmes 1er Cru), Pelles (a stone’s throw from Poruzot 1er Cru), Moulin Landin, and Chaumes des Perrières – a vineyard with a premier cru past, nestled among Genevrières and Perrières, and just steps from Coche-Dury’s famed holdings. Together, they deliver a Meursault of remarkable depth and clarity, with chiselled limestone drive, flinty nuance, and that tell-tale almond note on the finish.
📍 The Plot
The domaine farms just 0.86 ha across these sites, with vines reaching back to 1932, 1945 and 1957. That maturity brings density and concentration, while the mix of sites gives both richness and tension – Meursault at its most complete sitting the classic clay & limestone soil.
🍇 Technical
Hand-harvested Chardonnay, whole-bunch pressed, fermented in tank before finishing malolactic in barrel. Aged 11 months in 228L oak barrels, 10–20% new, with 16 months’ élevage in total.
