Vinelights
One Small Plot. One Big Return.
Adrien Modot-Guyon could’ve played it safe. Instead, he launched his revived family domaine with this gutsy, old-vine Aligoté. Bright, tropical, and refreshingly uncompromising. Think lemon zest, green apple, and honeyed melon laced with saline acidity, wrapped in a gentle frame of oak. The fruit is late-harvested but stays zippy, the mouthfeel is silky but lifted, and nothing gets in the way: it’s bottled unfined, unfiltered, and gloriously alive. It’s Adrien’s first wine since taking back the reins of his family estate – a storied domaine rooted in Chambolle itself. After a family tragedy halted production in 2004, the vines were leased out for nearly two decades. In 2023, Adrien brought the name back. A celebratory gunshot marked the moment. The wines did the rest.
📍 The Plot
This tiny 0.22-hectare parcel lies in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, just over the road from Chambolle-Musigny. The 60-year-old Aligoté vines dig deep into clay-rich soils, giving ripe fruit with plenty of grip and verve.
🍇 Technical
100% Aligoté from a 0.22ha plot of 60-year-old vines in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux. Clay soils, late-harvested for ripeness, aged 8 months in oak (20% new). Bottled unfined and unfiltered. First wine crafted by Adrien Modot-Guyon after resuming the family domaine, now producing 7 wines and expanding.
