Tasting

Notes

From one of the highest, most exposed parts of the Corton hill, La Croix captures the tension and authority of Corton-Charlemagne at its best. Old vines bring depth and quiet power, while the limestone-driven site keeps everything precise, mineral, and firmly in control.

Estimated Arrival: May 2026

Discover their Story

Pierre Girardin

The story begins in 2017. At just eighteen years old, Pierre-Vincent Girardin founded his own domaine, working with a handful of exceptional vineyard parcels retained from his family’s historic holdings.

Raised in Meursault and shaped by generations of Burgundian winemaking, he works organically in the vineyards and has rapidly forged a style defined by purity, precision and energy. Already being compared to Coche-Dury & Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, from the first taste, it’s clear why.

Wine Details

Height, Exposure, and Total Control.

Corton-Charlemagne has been planted here for over a thousand years. Legend has it Charlemagne himself ordered white grapes, so as not to stain his beard.

La Croix comes from old vines, over 70 years of age, sitting just below the Cross of Corton in Le Charlemagne. One of the highest, most exposed parts of the hill. You feel it.

The nose is broad but composed. Lemon oil, white peach, a touch of hazelnut and smoke. There’s weight here, but it never feels heavy.

On the palate, everything settles into place. The fruit is generous, but it’s held by a firm mineral line that runs straight through the wine. Power and control, side by side. Nothing out of shape, nothing out of line.

It doesn’t need to prove anything. It just shows you what Corton-Charlemagne is capable of.

The Plot

La Croix is located in the Le Charlemagne climat of Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, just below the historic Cross of Corton. This is one of the highest and most exposed sections of the hill, where limestone-rich soils and elevation bring both intensity and precision. The old vines, over 70 years in age, contribute depth and concentration while maintaining structure and freshness.

Technical

100% Chardonnay from Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru ‘La Croix’, sourced from vines over 70 years old in the Le Charlemagne climat. The vineyard sits high on the slope with significant limestone influence, contributing to both power and mineral precision.

In the cellar, the approach follows the domaine’s signature style. Whole bunches are pressed long and firmly to extract maximum lees, with controlled oxidation only at this early stage. Fermentation takes place in custom 456-litre barrels for both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, keeping oak influence subtle and allowing the vineyard to lead. From pressing to bottling, the wine is protected with nitrogen, preserving balance, freshness, and a structured, age-worthy profile.

Why Burgundy?

Discover the region

Burgundy has crafted legendary wines for over 2,000 years. The birthplace of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it’s where every slope, village, and vineyard reveals its own voice of terroir. You can grow vines anywhere, but only here is this magic bottled so beautifully.

There’s a saying amongst wine enthusiasts that all roads lead to Burgundy. We say, why not start there…
