Cool-Year Precision
The 2021 vintage brought a more chiselled, restrained profile to Philippe’s Meursault. Fruit from Gruyaches, Pellans, Moulin Landin and Pelles combines citrus lift with subtle generosity, underpinned by limestone tension and a lively mineral core. The finish tingles with energy – a wine that’s both serious and utterly refreshing.
📍 The Plot
Drawn from four prime vineyards around Meursault, each site contributing its own nuance: Pellans and Gruyaches, brushing up against Charmes Premier Cru; Pelles, close to Poruzot; and Moulin Landin. Vines here stretch back decades, bringing both concentration and complexity to this cooler-year expression.
🍇 Technical
Hand-harvested Chardonnay, whole-bunch pressed, fermented in tank before finishing in barrel. Aged 11 months in 228L oak barrels (10–20% new), 16 months’ élevage in total. Production limited by the low-yielding 2021 vintage.
