Classic With a Twist
The 2021 vintage brings out the more traditional, rounded side of Les Charmes, yet Philippe’s old vines in the lower part of the vineyard add depth and gravitas. It’s a wine of balance: creamy and full, but cut with just enough zip and sparkle to make it sing. Serious Meursault with a playful edge – a classic you’ll want to revisit again and again.
📍 The Plot
This cuvée comes from Chavy’s 0.41 ha holding in Charmes du Dessous, with vines planted in 1939 and 1947. The lower section of Les Charmes gives a naturally richer style, rooted in clay-limestone soils, with the maturity of the vines adding both weight and complexity.
🍇 Technical
Hand-harvested Chardonnay, whole-bunch pressed, fermented in tank, then finished in barrel. Aged 11 months in 228L oak barrels (30% new) with 16 months’ élevage total. Bottled by hand using the traditional chèvre à deux becs.
