Tailored Power. Ceramic Purity. The Pinnacle of Pinot.
There are Grand Crus… and then there’s Richebourg. At once poised and profound, this A.F. Gros showpiece blends elegance with depth in perfect harmony. The nose is quietly explosive—violet, rose petal, black cherry, plum, and wild herbs—with hints of earth and game that slowly unfurl. On the palate? A velvet current of fruit, grounded by mineral snap and a smoky whisper of spice.
The structure is firm but suave. There’s whole-cluster energy here—fermented 20% in bunches, aged in a perfect half-and-half blend of ceramic and oak for tension, clarity, and age-worthiness. One sip and you’re in—it’s Grand Cru gravity with cinematic grace.
📍 The Plot
Richebourg sits at the summit of Vosne-Romanée’s hallowed slopes, and this parcel—farm-raised by A.F. Gros—is the epitome of Grand Cru finesse. The Soil dates back to the Jurassic period, 150 million years ago! The 2023 vintage was aged in equal parts ceramic amphorae and oak barrels, preserving precision and purity while layering in complexity. We were lucky enough to be the first to taste the full blend—an unforgettable moment.
🍇 Technical
This wine was fermented using 50–80% whole bunches, bringing freshness, aromatic lift, and structure. The élevage is split evenly between ceramic and oak barrels (50/50), with no more than 20% new oak used — a deliberate choice to preserve purity and finesse. Ceramic vessels play a key role here, offering a neutral ageing environment that enhances the wine’s elegance without contributing any tannins or sulfites. The result is a Grand Cru of remarkable balance, depth, and aging potential, shaped with the gentlest of hands.
